“I’m tired and sick of war”

“I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation. War is hell.”

William Tecumseh Sherman, (1820-1891). American Civil War general and a major architect of modern warfare.

Where is the outrage?

Note: I wrote the following article, which appeared in the media, in May 2021. Although the content is nearly two years of age, what has changed? War is war! Hate, intolerance, antisemitism, genocide, Hamas, Ukraine, the anti-Iranian government protests, and so much more, remain in effect. The culture of fear remains dominant and is firmly ingrained in many societies. What was true in 2021 continues unabated in 2023.

-There are more than 60 countries in the world that have designated Hamas, the deluded splenetic psychopaths ruling the Gaza Strip, as a terrorist organisation. This includes the recent decision by the 35-country pan-American group (OAS) to designate Hamas a terrorist organization.

-Hamas has utterly failed the ordinary, decent Palestinian Muslim and Christian, who live in a culture of fear, in a dictatorship state where people have nowhere to run from the despots ruling their country.

– Hamas, the wife and its husband Iran, who are intent to cause turmoil, not only with Israel but with such a thirst for power, wish to take control of Abbas’ the Fatahland.

– Hamas, who will take every opportunity, to equate Zionism with Nazism, which if you look at it in a twisted sick way, seems illogical, for The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin al-Husseini was an enthusiastic supporter of Hitler’s Nazi Germany.

Such is the topsy-turveydom world we now live in.

Sir Winston Churchill in an address to the American people in 1939 spoke with brilliant satire about Dr. Goebbels and his Propaganda Machine who had their version of what happened during the first World War. “There they were, these peaceful Prussians, gathering in their harvests, when this wicked Belgium – set on by England and the Jews – fell upon them; and would no doubt have taken Berlin, if Corporal Adolph Hitler had not come to the rescue and turned the tables… Such is history as it is taught in topsy-turveydom.”

Western media has done little to explain the frightening absurdities Hamas presents to the world, nor in many cases give a fair and balanced view of the sickness permeating amongst Hamas’ supporters.

It was therefore quite refreshing to read this past week the highly respected British publication, The Spectator. Established in 1828, it is regarded as the best-written and most influential weekly in the English language. They state their writers have no party line; their only allegiance is to clarity of thought, elegance of expression and independence of opinion.

“Hamas’s supporters couldn’t give a monkey’s geranium”

In a headline, “Hamas doesn’t want a Palestinian state,” they write, “Do Hamas’s supporters in the West know what this organisation really stands for? The reality is that Hamas is no liberation movement in search of a Palestinian nation. Instead, it seeks the destruction of Israel and the establishment of an Islamic empire on its ruins. How do we know? Because senior Hamas leader Mahmoud al-Zahar has said so…”

If I was to respond to their question, I would probably want to say Hamas’s supporters couldn’t give a monkey’s geranium, or understand, what Hamas stands for! For when one sees gay rights activists waving banners in support of these despots, I wonder if they know if they were to live in the Gaza Strip, the likelihood of their bodies being found is highly unlikely.

“Such is the topsy-turveydom world we now live in”

Sadly I have concluded much of the Western media I read and watch in Canada, is so fixated on the geraniums that their clarity of thought has pushed them into a state of aberration.

Here are just a few recent examples, thanks to Honest Reporting Canada.

– Globe and CBC Falsely Claim All Palestinian Casualties Were Killed By Israeli Airstrikes.

– CTV Reporter Misleads Viewers Into Believing Israel Blocked Aid to Gaza.

– CBC’s Carol Off Acts as Hamas Apologist.

– Globe Reporter Insinuates That Israel Was Created Because of Holocaust.

“Western mainstream media have done little to explain the incongruities Hamas presents to the world”

Let us remind Western media, it is Hamas who has failed. Israel carries no guilt for its actions. After all, this is not some online software programme. This is war and a tactical one at that, where collateral damage and citizens of all ages die.

If Hamas wishes to be devoured, it is their choice and their choice alone! Perhaps at that time Jews, Muslims, and Christians, living close to each other, will have the opportunity to live in peace, as friends.

In this respect, much is anticipated by social justice and peace groups attempting to bridge the gap between all sides. It is a slow process. They must not fail! We should give them as much support as possible. There is much to learn from each other.

And as far as Western mainstream media is concerned, they have done little to explain the incongruities Hamas presents to the world, nor in many cases give a fair and balanced view of the disease permeating throughout Hamas and their adopted husband, Iran. Except perhaps yesterday, May 24, 2021. The New York Times International published an article written by Farnaz Fassihi with the headline, “Tehran cheers Hamas Attacks on Israel, and Tries to Take Some Credit.”

I’m reminded of the proverb, “Husband and wife are one flesh, but they possess two separate pockets.” This is the relationship between Iran and Hamas. Iran delivers the food. Hamas cooks it.

One hopes Hamas will someday well and truly burn the meal.

Well anyway, that’s how I see it.♦

-As a child Holocaust survivor and child of Holocaust survivors, I applaud the efforts of Professor Grabowski in bringing the truth of Polish collaboration with the Nazis to light even against the abuse he has suffered since he started his important work. Although my life was saved by a Polish woman after my mother smuggled me out of the Stanislawow ghetto, my parents had no illusions about the Polish people. When they returned to Stanislawow after hiding (they escaped the ghetto just before it was declared Judenrein), their former neighbours, who had taken over their home and possessions did not welcome them. Instead they were distressed that these skeletal survivors had the gall to think that they could reclaim their apartment and its contents (which, of course, didn’t happen). We need more people like Jan Grabowski to continue felling the truth. – RK, Toronto, Ontario, Canada
