Photo Contest Rules, 2022.

Prepare yourself for The Great International 2022 Community Jewish News Photo Contest.

 Eligibility Rules:

-The Contest is open to readers around the world of CJNonline your Community Jewish News. Contest readers must be able to prepare digital files according to the guidelines below which includes uploading their photograph files. There is no monetary entry fee for submitting your photo(s). Contestants must be a CJNonline subscriber. (There is no fee for being a subscriber. If you are not already a subscriber please complete the details at the bottom of this page prior to entering this Contest. You must also have access to a valid email address for communication with Contest officials. 

Contest ineligibility:

-Professional photographers, namely defined here as individuals who are engaged in photography as their main occupation rather than as a pastime.

– Former or current writers who have had their work published in CJNonline.


-Music: Any music pictures of individuals and instruments.

-Food: Any cooked meal eaten for nutrition or pleasure.

-Flora: All forms of live plants.

-Fauna: Any animal characteristic of the region you live in. No photos of animals in zoos.

 General Contestant Rules:

-All the photograph(s) must be original work, taken by the Contestant.

-Two photographs per category per Contestant.

-No third party may own or control any materials the photograph contains, and the photograph must not infringe upon the trademark, copyright, moral rights, intellectual rights, or rights of privacy of any entity or person.

-The photograph(s) must be in its original state and cannot be altered in any way, including but not limited to removing, adding, reversing, or distorting subjects within the frame.

-Any Contestant who breaks or fails to comply with the rules set forth will be removed from the Contest.

-Entries will not be accepted unless submitted via the official Contest Email address. Entries not submitted through the proper channel will be deleted.

-The final selection of entries will be judged by a world-renown and award-winning Canadian photographer. All decisions are final. CJNonline reserves the right to disqualify any entry that is deemed inappropriate or does not conform to stated Contest rules.

-By submitting your photograph(s) to Contestants agree to abide by The Great International 2022 Community Jewish News Photo Contest Rules.

-Submissions will not be accepted once the deadline lapses.

-The winners will be contacted via the email address provided during entry. If no response is received after five business days, a new winner per category will be selected and the previous winner will forfeit all rights to the prize.

-The Contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law.


The photographer retains the copyright of their photograph(s). However, the photographer agrees to give CJNonline full permission, without compensation, to publish on CJNonline the use of the photograph(s) submitted in the Contest without compensation. CJNonline agrees to include the name of the photographer if agreed to in advance by the photographer.

Contestant Winners:

Each of the four category winners will receive, at no charge, a signed copy of the published book, Under the Radar” by David Eisenstadt.

Contestant Entry Fee:

There is no monetary fee for entering the Contest.

File Format of your Photograph(s):

-Files must be in JPG format. Email each photo separately. Any aspect ratio is acceptable and is to be sent to

In your Email Submission:

In the Subject title add your full name, your city of residence, your country, and what category you are entering. For example Felicity Jacobs, Eudaemonia, Canada. Food.

To safeguard anonymous judging, do not include watermarks or signatures that would disclose the name of the photographer on the photo itself.


-Submission: You may submit starting May 8, 2022. Deadline to submit midnight, July 1, 2022. (Eastern Time)

-Judging: Early August 2022.

-Winners Announced: The week of September 5, 2022

Contestant Winners:

-In each of the four categories winners will receive, at no charge, a signed copy of the published book, “Under the Radar” by David Eisenstadt.
